An evening in Sandwich Factory

Freshly prepared sandwiches, nice cozy ambience and pocket friendly menu located at the heart of Doha, is a brief description about the Sandwich Factory - new addition to Doha's food culture.

Doha tweet-ups initiated a small gathering for their soft launch and menu tasting. Really happy to be a part of this, and to cherish a wonderful evening with my fellow food bloggers.

The event started with small talk regarding the factory of sandwiches, where everything is  fresh, incorporating western and Arabic cuisines. The management stressed that they are open to all sorts of comments and criticism which help them to grow and diversify. Keeping this in mind we thought of ordering quite a few entrée from their menu.

Mini falafel, Mini - Shawarma and zatar with cheese mana’eesh were the appetizers.

The falafel was colorful and the radish pickle gave it a refreshing taste and texture.

Shawarma was just fine. The presentation of the mana’eesh was a little different with two small buns and a big pita. Cheese and zatar was just ok for me.

For the main course, I ordered a Philly cheese steak. It was simply amazing. Fresh soft bread with strips of juicy beef and bell pepper in a gooey cheese sauce.

The beef was tender, succulent, juicy and just perfectly spiced. For those who want to enjoy a full sandwich, I recommend going straight to the main course because it was pretty big serving.

Next was my most favorite course desserts! We all decided to order different items from menu but certain entrées in the menu were not available. Finally settled for a Strawberry tart, eclair and cheese cake.

The tart looked and tasted divine  The crisp shells and mildly sweet custard filling with fresh strawberries took this to a whole new level.

The eclair was  equally good. I had lot of expectations on cheese cake, however   didnt enjoy the fig sauce served with it.

Apart from that, the cheesecake had a very smooth velvety texture which melted in your mouth. To finish off I ordered a espresso shot, feeling full and contented.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food and company for which  I thank the restaurant and organizers behind the  event. I would strongly recommend Sandwich Factory at the Gate Mall for a quick bite or a casual dining experience, where you can mindlessly splurge on yummy sandwiches with desserts and drinks without creating a hole in your pocket.
