Pasta Marinara

Tomato and pasta is like bread and butter, goes so well and its quite simple also. Marinara sauce is basically tomato and cheese sauce. Basil and parsley leaves are also used in this sauce which is optional. Pastas are available in many shapes and sizes and this basic tomato sauce can be used for all types.

Ingredients
  • 3 medium sized tomatoes
  • 250 gm pasta
  • 1 tsp garlic chopped
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or sunflower oil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 3/4tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup cheese grated
Cook pasta according to the instructions in the packet. The cooking time varies according to the size of the pasta. Drain the pasta and again wash with cold water .This will prevent the pastas from sticking. In a pan boil tomatoes with little water ,remove its skin and make a fine paste. Ready made tomato puree can also be used( 3/4 to 1 cup). Sautee finely chopped onion ,garlic ,oregano and chillipowder in oil for 3-4 minute and add tomato puree . Let it simmer till it becomes a thick gravy .Sugar is added to this sauce to equalize the sour taste . In a large bowl mix the pasta well with sauce and garnish with grated cheese. It can also be baked for 5-10 min until the cheese melts.

 Do Note
Chilli powder can be replaced by pepper powder. To make it kids friendly u can decrease the amount of spice.
